COMMUNITY
IMPACT AWARD.
This award recognises an engineer who has made a significant and positive social, cultural, and/or economic impact on a community, iwi, or New Zealand society. It celebrates individuals whose work demonstrates a deep commitment to improving the lives of others through engineering.
Entrants should demonstrate:

development and implementation of engineering solutions that address community needs, particularly those communities that need it most

engagement in projects that enhance quality of life, infrastructure or services

participation in disaster response or risk reduction initiatives

contribution to heritage conservation or cultural preservation efforts
-
involvement in public outreach or educational programs related to engineering
-
long-term commitment to community service and the spirit of volunteering.
Eligibility

Entries are open to New Zealand citizens and permanent residents.

Their work must be substantially completed in New Zealand and undertaken between November 2022 and November 2024.

The entrant doesn’t have to be an Engineering New Zealand member.
Judging criteria

Community benefit (30%): Tangible positive impact on the target community

Innovation (20%): Creative approaches to addressing community needs
-
Engagement (20%): Effective collaboration with community stakeholders
-
Sustainability (15%): Long-term viability and continued benefit of the initiative
-
Leadership (15%): Demonstrated ability to inspire and mobilise others for community good
