DIVERSITY
AND INCLUSION CHAMPION

AWARD.

This award recognises an individual who has made a profound and lasting contribution to the promotion of diversity and inclusion within the engineering profession. It celebrates those actively working to create a more equitable and representative engineering community. 

Entrants should demonstrate: 

  • implementation of successful initiatives to increase diversity in engineering 

  • development of inclusive policies and practices within organisations 

  • mentorship and support for underrepresented groups in engineering 

  • advocacy for systemic changes to promote equity in the profession 

  • creation of programmes to attract and retain diverse talent in engineering 

  • measurable improvements in diversity and inclusion resulting from the nominee's efforts.

Eligibility

  • Entries are open to New Zealand citizens and permanent residents. 

  • The work must have been substantially completed in New Zealand and undertaken between November 2022 and November 2024. 

  • Entries may include work by non-engineers. 

  • The entrant doesn’t have to be an Engineering New Zealand member. 

Judging criteria 

  • Leadership (30%): Demonstrated commitment to driving diversity and inclusion initiatives 

  • Impact (25%): Measurable positive outcomes resulting from the nominee's efforts 

  • Innovation (20%): Creative approaches to addressing diversity and inclusion challenges 

  • Advocacy (15%): Effectiveness in raising awareness and promoting change 

  • Sustainability (10%): Long-term viability and potential for continued impact of initiatives
