This award honours an individual who excels in inspiring the next generation of engineers and has made an outstanding contribution to engineering education in Aotearoa. It recognises the crucial role educators play in shaping the future of the profession.
Entries should demonstrate:

developed and implemented innovative teaching methods

a positive impact on student learning and professional development

contribution to curriculum development and educational initiatives

engagement in outreach activities to promote engineering education

a commitment to personal growth and staying current with industry trends

the ability to inspire and motivate students to pursue engineering careers.
Eligibility

Entries are open to New Zealand citizens and permanent residents.

The entrant must be employed by a tertiary education institution.

Entries may include work by non-engineers.

The entrant doesn’t have to be an Engineering New Zealand member.
Judging criteria

Teaching excellence (30%): Innovative and effective teaching methods

Student impact (25%): Evidence of positive influence on student learning and development

Curriculum development (20%): Contributions to course design and educational initiatives
-
Community engagement (15%): Involvement in outreach and promotion of engineering education
-
Professional development (10%): Commitment to personal growth and staying current in the field
