Entries should demonstrate: 

• developed, innovative engineering solutions that address environmental challenges 

• implementated sustainable practices that significantly reduce environmental impact 

• leadership in fostering a culture of sustainability within the industry 

• measurable positive environmental outcomes from implemented solutions 

• potential for solutions to be scaled or replicated for broader impact.

Eligibility

• Entries are open to New Zealand citizens and permanent residents. 

• The entrant’s work must have been predominantly completed in New Zealand and undertaken between November 2022 and November 2024. 

• The entrant doesn’t have to be an Engineering New Zealand member.

Judging criteria 

• Environmental impact (30%): Measurable positive effects on environmental quality 

• Innovation (25%): Novel approaches to sustainability challenges 

• Leadership (20%): Influence in promoting sustainable practices within the industry 

• Scalability (15%): Potential for wider application of the sustainable solution 

• Stakeholder engagement (10%): Effective collaboration with communities and other stakeholders
